Prescott firefighter Brent Norton says more than 100 golfers helped raise money to send kids to summer camps over the weekend.
The Eastern Ontario Firefighter’s Association’s annual Jay Merkley Golf Tournament was held last Saturday, September 30th, at the Prescott Golf Club, with golfers from all over the Leeds-Grenville area.
Norton, Prescott’s Chief Fire Prevention Officer, says the money went towards Camp BUCKO, a charity that runs a camp program for kids recovering from burn injuries.
“We raised around $6,000,” Norton says, “which was an immense success, and we’re looking forward to next year.”
The charity took to social media to thank the firefighters and golfers for raising the money, saying it’ll give kids who need it a “week like no other” at camp.
