Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association exhibition game coming to Kemptville

Mike Ross says young girls playing hockey in North Grenville are excited to see some of their idols competing in Kemptville.

The Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association, a nonprofit organization that promotes women’s hockey in Canada, is hosting an exhibition game at the North Grenville Municipal Centre, as part of its “All-Star Weekend” event lineup.

“We’ve got 17 girls’ teams, and they’re all excited to see some of their mentors, and some people you’ve seen on Team Canada and Team USA come to play an exciting game in Kemptville,” explains Ross, a member of the Kemptville District Minor Hockey Association who’s helping to organize the event.

“I’m a little biased,” he explains, “but I have a daughter playing hockey, so I just want to see her eyes when she may get a chance to be up close and personal to some of her idols. So, I just want to see what the look in her eyes is and know that she has a chance.”

The game is happening Friday, December 9th. The puck drops at 4:45 PM. You can find more information and buy tickets at the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association website.
