CECCE members ‘thrilled’ as school year begins

As the school year begins for students at Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) schools, board members are expressing their excitement for the year.

The French Catholic board, which operates dozens of schools in and around Ottawa, including three in the Leeds-Grenville area, has officially started its school year at all its locations.

“I am thrilled to be part of such a trailblazing school board,” says CECCE chair Johanne Lacombe. “The CECCE is constantly bringing new ideas and projects to the table because it is responsive to what matters to students and sensitive to the interests of the Francophone community as a whole.”

Director of Education Marc Bertrand says he’s looking forward to leaving some of the stress of recent years in the past.

“In the wake of the pandemic and the challenges that came along with it,” he says, “we are glad that the back-to-school experience will be closer to normal this year so that our school communities can dive right into what really excites them.”

The board is planning several new initiatives this year, like expanding access to outdoor “nature classrooms” to more schools.
