North Grenville is introducing its inaugural Board Chair for the Kemptville Campus.
Karen Cooper has been named to the role, following an extensive search, and will officially assume the position on Thursday.
Cooper has lived in North Grenville for over 20 years, and has served as Chair of the Board of the Kemptville District Hospital and Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa.
She says she’s excited to bring her experience to her new role.
“I am thrilled to accept the Chair position of Kemptville Campus Board and look forward to applying my professional skills to support the development and growth of the organization to its full potential,” she said.
Mayor Nancy Peckford congratulated Cooper in the new role.
She says Cooper’s expertise and experience on previous boards will be a valuable asset as the campus continues to evolve.
“How do we ensure the campus is a financially viable entity, and how do we continue to strengthen partnerships,” Peckford said. “We’ve got all four school boards on the campus and we have over 500 kids from Kindergarten to grade 12 who are on campus.”
Cooper will take over the position officially at Thursday’s Campus Board meeting.
Peckford says following this, there will be a public call for applications for up to 8 board positions that members of the public can apply to.
“We’re inviting members of the community and throughout Eastern Ontario to express their interest in becoming a board member, and we hope to have the board filled up hopefully sometime this Spring,” Peckford said.
Peckford adds it’s always been North Grenville’s goal to transition control of the campus to an independent board that can make decisions on its future.
