St. Michael Catholic High School is getting ready to host prospective students through its annual open house.
If you’re thinking about going to St. Michael in the fall, the school says you’ll want to see what it has to offer during the online event, which will feature two vieo presentations aimed at students entering grade 7 or grade 9.
Head of Communications at the school Chris Finner says because of the pandemic, they opted to go for the virtual experience.
“The video is meant to mirror what we normally do,” Finner said. “So, normally, if you had a meeting, there would be a powerpoint, and a speaker delivering the information and sort of engaging with the audience. We wanted to recreate that experience as best we could and do it online.”
While the presentations are directed at Grade 7 and 9 students, the school says everyone is welcome to join regardless of age.Â
Finner adds that it’s not ideal to be doing the open house online, but it’s the best the school can do under the circumstances.
“Normally, you’d have much more engagement where teachers would be on site and they’d be having conversations with parents and students and physically walking around and getting a tour of the school,” Finner added. “It’s not as good as the live experience but it’s suitable.”
The open house takes place Wednesday at 6PM.
