Just as the US Senate was voting against the fast tracking of Keystone XL, the Energy East pipeline hosted an Open House in North Grenville. The November 18 event was very well attended by local residents with pressing questions, as well as opponents to the project and representatives from the media. Ben Powless of Ecology Ottawa spoke about TransCanada’s return to Kemptville (their 4th visit in a year):

Sustainable North Grenville and Ecology Ottawa were both represented at the Open House hosted by TransCanada. Andrea Harden of the Council of Canadians said, “It’s not a question of if the pipeline breaks but when it breaks.”

One person in attendance at the TransCanada Open House in Kemptville Tuesday said although she feels there was more information available than there was last time, she still feels the answers to her questions were unsatisfactory. Another guest said he was surprised how much money TransCanada is putting in to these Open House events.
TransCanada says they will continue their community engagement through the coming months.
