Free Community Christmas Dinner happening Dec. 25

Christmas dinner is on the community this year. A local group is hosting a free meal on December 25. The event runs from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm at St. John’s United Church in Kemptville.

Angie Mordy, one of the organizers, says it takes a village. She noted the dinner wouldn’t be possible without the many individuals and businesses that help out.

The Community Christmas Dinner started in 2016 and over 100 people attended last year. Volunteers also delivered 45 meals to people who couldn’t make it out and packaged up another 60 meals for local churches to hand out to people in need.

Mordy explained the dinner is open to anyone and everyone. She says if you want to see what Christmas is all about, come check it out. Mordy noted there’s volunteers from all walks of life, ranging in age from 80 to 12, and seeing everyone together is awesome.

The dinner includes turkey, ham and all the fixings. Volunteers are still needed to help out with food prep and washing dishes in the kitchen. People who wish to donate can drop by B&H and contribute to the running tab for the Community Christmas Dinner.

To volunteer, get a meal delivered to your house or sign up for a ride to and from the church, contact Mordy directly by calling 613-223-3979. The church is wheelchair accessible.
