The Ontario Government is adding 6,000 new long-term care beds across the province. Bayfield Manor in Kemptville will get 94 of those beds. The announcement was made by the province yesterday.
Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark says North Grenville is one of the fastest-growing communities in Eastern Ontario and he’s proud the government is acting so urgently to help families ensure their loved ones can access the long-term care they need.
He says adding 94 new beds at Bayfield Manor will not only shorten wait times for long-term care, it’s a critical step in easing pressure on the Kemptville District Hospital.
Chief Executive Officer of Southbridge Care Homes Keith McIntosh says these beds will contribute towards helping address the long wait list for long-term care.
Ontario has committed to adding 15,000 long-term care beds in five years and 30,000 in 10 years to help cut hospital wait times and end hallway medicine.
Deputy Premier and Minister of Health and Long-Term Care Christine Elliott says more long-term care beds will help take pressure off hospitals, end hallway medicine, allow doctors and nurses to work more efficiently, and provide faster health care for Ontario patients and their families.
