Councillor candidate Doreen O’Sullivan focuses on active transportation

Doreen O’Sullivan is running for councillor in North Grenville. The Kemptville resident says she has always been interested in municipal politics.

O’Sullivan says her main priority is active transportation. She wants to see increased and improved sidewalks, crosswalks, bike lanes and trails throughout the municipality.

O’Sullivan says waterway tourism could lead to economic growth in North Grenville.

Sustainable growth is another focus for O’Sullivan. She says infrastructure needs to be in place to support growth. A key priority for her is the expansion of County Road 43.

O’Sullivan says the parks and recreation department needs to continue enhancing and maintaining green spaces. She says an indoor pool and splash pad are not financially feasible at this time. O’Sullivan says other options, such as partnering with the new hotel, should be considered.

O’Sullivan says her experience as a Registered Nurse has prepared her for dealing with budgets. She managed the hand hygiene program at the three campuses of the Ottawa Hospital, which involved a million dollar budget and environmental assessments.

O’Sullivan says she wants to be the voice for all North Grenville residents.

The My Kemptville Now newsroom will be interviewing all councillor and mayoral candidates for North Grenville over the next two weeks. The 2018 Municipal Election is set for October 22.
