Ottawa Police are investigating a collision that resulted in a vehicle landing in the Rideau Canal. Just after 11:00 last night Ottawa Police, Fire and Paramedics were called to the incident on Colonel By Drive, just west of the Bank Street Bridge. A vehicle had crashed into a light standard before plunging into the Rideau. Officers and paramedics were able to pull the lone occupant from the submerged vehicle. The driver was taken to the Civic Hospital and treated for minor injuries. A 61-year-old man was charged with refusing to provide a breath sample.
