Kemptville Public School to open to students at the start of the school year

Kemptville Public School students will be in their new school sooner than expected.

The Upper Canada District School Board says it has received approval from the Municipality of North Grenville to be able to welcome students into the new County Road 44 location at the start of the school year. The school will receive its first students September 5th.

UCDSB Trustee Lisa Swan says it’s a good way to start the school year.

The construction project began in 2016 with a budget of $13.3 million. Swan says the new school features modern classrooms.

There’s also dedicated busing drop-off and pick-up laneways on the grounds to ensure safety and security of students.

KPS will be hosting an open house in the coming weeks. Officials say they’ll be posting updates to the school’s website and Facebook page.

KPS was originally scheduled to open in January of next year.
