The Kemptville Armoury building is now officially known as the Pte. Blake Williamson Memorial Hall. The renaming ceremony took place on Remembrance Day at the building before the ceremony at the Cenotaph. Members of council and municipal staff were joined by Williamson’s family, members of the 1st Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment, and Williamson’s former Commanding Officer Major General Omer Lavoie who was the Presiding Officer.
Councillor Donovan Arnaud who has been working on the renaming for many years says the building has been the home of service to country and service to community for over 100 years. Arnaud says it’s a very noble building and they gave it a noble name.
