Police charge student after yesterday’s Barrhaven area school lockdown

More information has been released regarding the student that caused a lockdown at Barrhaven area schools. Ottawa Police has charged a 17-year-old student with possession of a weapon after yesterday’s incident. Multiple schools went into lockdown after a suspicious student was seen with what looked like a gun. The Ottawa Police Service says officers were called to Mother Teresa High School on Longfield Drive. Officers searched the grounds and then arrested the student inside the school. They found a replica handgun inside his backpack. No one was threatened or injured by the student. He was released to the custody of his parents and will appear in court in November.
