Cyber attack blamed for cancelled EQAO testing

The Education Quality and Accountability Office says it was an “intentional, malicious, and sustained” cyber attack that forced the cancellation of last week’s EQAO testing for Grade 10 students. The Canadian Press reported the agency hired to administer the tests says it was forced to cancel after realizing it had been targeted by an “extremely large amount of traffic” from all around the world. Almost 900 schools in Ontario had signed up to take the test online. An investigation is underway and the EQAO is confident it will be able to administer the tests online in the future.
