Council gives support to two new hydro generating station applications in North Grenville

North Grenville Council has passed motions of support for two Feed-in-Tariff applications for hydro generating stations in the area. One project would be at the Burritts Rapids Dam for a 500 kw station, the other at the Oxford Mills Dam for a 50 kw generation facility. Both Burritts Rapids Hydro Inc. and Acorn Green Environmental Inc. have applied under the previous FIT 4 process. Neither was successful. They’re hoping that municipal support will help them in the new FIT 5 program. By getting municipal support, the projects receive priority points in the application process. The more priority points that a project has, the better chance it has of succeeding.
