Only a little over a fifth of the remaining Community Grants money is expected to be doled out during the fall intake period. Committee of the Whole discussed the recommendations by the Community Grants/Civic Awards Advisory Committee regarding applications for the money. Three applications for funding were received by the committee for the fall intake. If Council accepts the recommendation next week, the Kemptville Snowmobile Klub will receive $1,000 towards a shed and the clubhouse and the Oxford Mills Community Association will get $150 towards Christmas lights. A request by the Ontario Parenting Connection for $1,000 towards a needs assessment for parents in the area was turned down. Deputy Mayor Barb Tobin explained that they denied the request because the program is supposed to fund capital projects and not operational type costs. $5,000 was available during the intake. The remaining $3,850 is expected to be rolled into the 2017 Community Grants Program.
