MPP Clark’s motion tabled against expansion of Municipal Land Transfer Tax successful

A motion tabled against the expansion of the Municipal Land Transfer Tax by Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark has been successful at Queen’s Park.  Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Ted McMeekin, declared he has closed the door on the issue.  The tax could have increased the cost of home ownership by $10,000 for buyers of an average home in Ontario.  Clark said the tax would have made Ontario one of the most uncompetitive jurisdictions in North America when it comes to purchasing a home.
