Junior and Senior Girls from North Grenville District High School both head to EOSSAA

North Grenville Junior Girls basketball team is the LGSSAA “A” champs with a 37-33 victory over the Rideau Lions. The Knights steadily pulled away in the 2nd half then allowed Rideau to make it close in the last minute. Laura Byrd overcame a slow first half to finish with 16 points. Ireland Thurler ran the point perfectly and chipped in 8 points. Colleen McGuire dominated on defense and also scored 8 points. The Knights now travel to St. Francis Xavier in Hammond on Wednesday Nov. 18 to compete at the EOSSAA championships.
In a thrilling senior game Rideau took revenge and defeated North Grenville 40-33. The Knights led after the 3rd quarter however, Rideau tied it up early. It went back and forth until Rideau made the most of their free throws in the last minute to secure the hard fought victory. Despite the loss the Knights have secured the wild card to EOSSAA hosted by Rideau on Nov. 19-20. A top 2 finish would send the Knights to their 4th OFSAA championship in 5 years.
