48 Hour Film Project comes to Ottawa July 4-6

The 48 Hour Film Project has been hosting filmmaking competitions in hundreds of cities around the world for the last 15 years, and in 2014 the event will come to Ottawa for the first time. On Friday July 4th, participating teams will gather at Club SAW for the kickoff event and each team will be assigned a film genre drawn from a hat. The teams must write, film, edit and submit a four to seven minute film within 48 hours. The best film winner from the Ottawa competition will screen at a special ‘Filmapalooza’ event where all the 48 Hour Film Project winners are screened, and the top ten from that screening will be shown at a special short film venue at the Cannes Film Festival.

This event is part filmmaking competition and part film festival. Films that make the deadline will be screened for the general public, and awards given based on the results of a panel of judges. Amateur and indie filmmakers interested in learning more about the 48 Hour Film Project can go to www.48hourfilm.com/ottawa to learn more or to register a team.
