South Grenville DHS raises $18,000 in Relay for Life for cancer

Students at South Grenville District High School in Prescott have raised nearly $18,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. The 1st Annual SGDHS Relay for Life generated nearly $8,000 more than organizers had expected. The event, which ran from noon to midnight, provided special activities for cancer survivors. The school hospitality program prepared a free meal for cancer survivors before they took part in a “survivor walk” around the track. At 9 p.m. the organizers hosted the luminary walk, in honour of loved ones who have struggled with the disease. Throughout the event participants in the relay enjoyed entertainment by student band Southern Comfort, enjoyed a rugby game between South Grenville and St. Michael’s Catholic High School, and a pig roast.
