The North Grenville DHS senior girls finished week 1 of LGSSAA basketball with an impressive 2-0 record. On Tuesday the Knights hosted TISS and after a slow start played a very strong game and came away with a 52-24 victory. Emma Kiesekamp dominated with 21 points while Darien Wrona had 15. Yesterday we travelled to South Grenville and despite poor shooting came away with a 49-19 win. Corrine Nussey led with 11 points while Emma Kiesekamp, Shawn Pignon and Darien Wrona all had 9.
The junior girls finished the week with a 1-1 record. Against a strong TISS team the Knights hung with the Pirates until the end before eventually falling 44-30. Laura Byrd was strong with 9 points while Spanish exchange student Marta Fernandez had 8. Last night they easily handled South Grenville 41-7. Ireland Thurler was top scorer for the Knights.
