North Grenville launch of Community Safety & Wellness Council a success

The North Grenville Community Safety & Wellness Council launched Wednesday with representatives from a number of community service groups. The police, health unit, youth centre, addictions services and media joined with the police services board to discuss ways that information can be shared to make North Grenville safer. This Community Council model has been very successful in other parts of the world. In the city of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, where the program first began in Canada, the crime rate dropped by 27% following the implementation of the information-sharing program. The next meeting of the Council is in June, with plans to start work on the model in the fall.
