Fatal collision closes Boyne Road in North Dundas

UPDATE: Police have identified the victim in the June 4 fatal collision as 83-year-old Carmel Donn Smirl of North Stormont Township.

SDG OPP officers assisted by OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) continue the investigation.

One man is dead after a collision in North Dundas Thursday afternoon. Just after 1:30pm June 4 Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry OPP were called to a two-vehicle collision on Boyne Road. A Ford car was travelling west when for reasons still under investigation, it hit an eastbound dump truck head-on. The man in the car was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 61-year-old man from South Dundas in the dump truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family. A section of Boyne between Belanger and Kittle will remain closed for several hours while police continue their investigation. Detours are in place.
