“The Bright Spot” landmark in Kemptville comes down after 150 years

Local real estate developer Rob Thompson is going to recycle parts of the old Bright Spot restaurant after demolition, and that is why it’s being taken down by hand.

Huge wooden beams and steel girders from the 150-year-old structure may find a new home in one of Thompson’s other projects: the Suites Cafe in the former Rowland Leather location.

A Facebook page has been started, entitled “The Bright Spot Landmark.”

Thompson is looking for input from the community on what they think should have the benefit of that location, and those incredible views of Prescott Street and the Kemptville Creek.
