Merrickville residents are getting advance notice about hydrant flushing.
Village officials say it will take place from Oct. 5 to 30, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
As a result of the flushing, water may be slightly discoloured or brown/reddish.
Officials say the water is entirely safe, however may not be aesthetically pleasing.
If residents are aware of flushing taking place on their street, it is best not to run any water until the street is complete.
When the street is complete, house taps should be run at full flow to a faucet without a screen for a short time until the water is clear.
Weekly sampling is being conducted to ensure safe water.
