Nancy Peckford to remain Mayor of North Grenville after acclamation

Nancy Peckford says it’s been an absolute privilege to serve North Grenville as Mayor for the last eight years, and she’s honoured to have been acclaimed for another four years.

Her comment comes after the deadline to run in the October municipal election came and went on Friday afternoon with no one filing to run against her.

Peckford was first elected in 2018.

In a statement on Facebook, Peckford says she has never claimed to be a perfect mayor but she says she has endeavoured to bring the best of what she has to the table, and foster a higher quality of life for residents while being fiscally prudent.

Over the coming weeks, Peckford says she will be seeking residents input about the priorities they believe should guide the next term of council.

She says she wants to hear what is most important to residents: what should we protect, what should we improve, and where should we focus our limited resources.

Peckford says she also encourages residents to learn about all of the candidates running for council and to participate in the election.

Voting day is Monday, Oct. 26.
