Bowmanville man faces charges after police say he fled in stolen vehicle

A 24-year Bowmanville man faces charges after he attempted to flee from police officers in a stolen vehicle.

Grenville County OPP say they were advised about a stolen utility vehicle from Kingston around 12 p.m. Saturday.

A short while later officers say they received a traffic complaint involving that vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 401.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver refused and fled the area.

Police say they intercepted the vehicle and deployed a tire deflation device around 1 p.m. on Highway 401 in Augusta Township.

Charges include possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation.

A court appearance is scheduled for September in Brockville.
