MPP Clark announces funding for local theatre organizations

The show will indeed go on with more than $264,000 in provincial funding on the way for local theatre groups.

Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark says the funding, through the Ontario Arts Council, includes more than $245,000 for the Thousand Islands Playhouse and more than $19,000 for the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival.

Clark says the investment will help artists and theatre organizations continue to make a positive impact on the local economy, support jobs and draw more visitors to Gananoque, Prescott, and the entire region.

The Ontario Arts Council is an agency of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming and provides grants to Ontario-based individual artists and arts professionals, ad hoc groups, collectives and organizations, supporting a range of arts activities and disciplines.

The provincial government is investing in 17 arts organizations.
