A new community safety zone is now in place at a Spencerville school.
Officials say it’s been established on Henderson Street and along a section of Bennett Street between Sloan Street and Goodin Road near Centennial ’67 Public School.
The designation was approved by area councils following a request from residents and a review of the area with school representatives and an OPP community safety officer.
The zones are created in areas where public safety and where fines for traffic violations are doubled, which officials say helps to encourage safer driving and increased awareness of pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.
