Local seniors are set to benefit from over $167,000 in funding from the Ontario government.
Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark says the money is coming from the Enhancing Access to Spaces for Everyone grant program which was designed to remove barriers and make community spaces more accessible for seniors and residents with disabilities.
In our region, just over $57,000 of the money will go to purchasing a new galvanized steel ramp and automatic door openers at the North Augusta Community Hall.
Another portion will go to procuring inclusive outdoor fitness equipment and creating paved trail connections in Cardinal and Johnstown to promote active living and reduce isolation.
Funding will also go to adaptable seating, wheelchair storage, a permanent hearing loop, and automatic washroom doors at the Brockville Arts Centre.
