North Grenville Council is in the early stages of putting together its 2026 budget.
Council has spent time this week hearing from over twenty community groups as part of the process and they will decide which ones will receive grants this year.
When it comes to property taxes, North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford says staff will be bringing forward a report over the next couple of weeks and council members will learn more about what’s required and how much of an increase they are looking at.
Taxes went up 3.3 per cent last year and Mayor Peckford tells Moose FM they are doing their best to keep it around that number.
“To the best of our ability we want to ensure the lowest tax rate increase possible. Our growth is one of the reasons that we’re not seeing higher tax rate increases.”
Peckford adds that they are hoping to have the budget passed and in place early next month.
