There’s no change at the top as the Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus sets its sights on the provincial budget.
The caucus recently held its annual general meeting and they say it brought together leaders from the municipal, provincial and federal levels, with discussions focused around strengthening the economy, municipal infrastructure and rural health care.
Bonnie Clark, the Warden of Peterborough County, will continue to serve as chair of the caucus in 2026, and Nathan Townend, the Warden of Lennox and Addington, will serve as vice-chair.
The caucus has also submitted their recommendations for the upcoming Ontario budget.
They include ensuring municipalities have tailored support to deliver on mutual goals related to housing and infrastructure, investing in trade infrastructure and establishing a regulated paramedic college.
They also recommended including more communities in the Building Faster Fund and pursuing a collaborative approach to make sure OPP policing remains affordable.
