NGtransit resumed some service Monday afternoon and evening as the Mayor of North Grenville is asking residents to be vigilant as they travel in the area.
“Have a good sense of how some of these weather forecasts are playing out,” said Nancy Peckford.
“Sometimes the extreme weather we are expecting doesn’t materialize but then, before you know it, weather you didn’t see coming is on your doorstop. People need to really think about whether they need to make that non-essential trip,” she added.
NGtransit service resumed as of 4 p.m. Monday within North Grenville and ran until 10 p.m.
Service between Limebank Station and North Grenville did not operate.
Peckford added staff will be keeping a close eye on road conditions and will update the service as needed throughout Tuesday.
Cold temperatures, high winds and blowing snow are forecast for the area.
“Unless the forecast changes dramatically, I would expect we would be operational. That is a call made by our staff in tandem with the transit operator.”
Peckford also thanked the municipality’s public works teams in North Grenville and the United Counties who are navigating all kinds of inclement weather, including the recent bout of freezing rain.
“They are very dedicated. They are a one-shift crew so they start really early and go as long as they can go. We rely heavily on them to work as hard as they can throughout the day to clear as much as possible, recognizing there are areas we may not be able to do as thoroughly the first time around.”
Residents can keep up to date on the municipality’s Facebook page or online at www.northgrenville.ca.
