Police: Another 34 impaired drivers charged as part of Festive RIDE campaign

The number of impaired drivers keeps increasing as the Festive RIDE Campaign continues on.

East Region OPP say they have now arrested and charged a total of 101 people with impaired driving since the initiative began on Nov. 20, including 34 in the past week.

Each driver charged with impaired has had their licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven-days, plus they each have a scheduled court appearance.

Officers have also issued 20 three-day licence suspensions for drivers who were found to be in the warn range on an approved roadside alcohol screening device, that’s up by five from last week.

The Festive RIDE campaign runs until New Year’s Day.
