A local organization says its expanding its programs and services to ensure that children, youth, and families in our region continue to have access to essential supports.

The Boys and Girls Club of Kingston and Area (BGC South East) says it will be providing support to Leeds and Grenville come the new year.

The announcement comes a day after Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds and Grenville revealed that they will close operations effective Dec. 31, 2025.

BGC South East CEO Harold Parsons says in a media release that ““with the closure of Big Brothers Big Sisters Leeds and Grenville, we see an opportunity to ensure continuity of service while introducing an expanded range of programs that support children, youth, and families in new and meaningful ways.”

BGC South East says they currently serve over 6,200 children and youth annually through more than 20,000 program hours in early learning, recreation, education, and youth employment.

Parsons adds in the release that they will work with “community partners across Leeds and Grenville to continue creating spaces where every young person grows up to be healthy, successful, and
active participants in society.”
