Update: State of emergency lifted in North Dundas

Things are starting to get back to normal in North Dundas after a state of emergency brought into effect because of the Alvin Runnalls Forest fire was lifted.

Township officials say they met on Monday for an update on conditions at the forest and they add there remains little to no evidence of the blaze.

Firefighters also reported no visible signs of smoke, and very little smell of smoke.

Officials say they will continue to monitor the scene, as sunny and warm conditions will dominate the week.

Access to the forest is prohibited until further notice because of ongoing fire monitoring, investigations and the dangerous nature of the fire.

The Township of North Dundas are thanking their firefighters, as well as those from North Stormont and South Dundas, as well as South Nation Conservation and Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Counties for all the support offered over the last week.
