Ontario investing $82 million to modernize beaches and campgrounds along St. Lawrence corridor

More than $82 million in provincial funding is going to modernizing beaches and campgrounds along the St. Lawrence corridor.

The money was announced Friday morning with provincial officials saying it will be used in the St. Lawrence Parks Commission’s multi-year revitalization project.

They add that the funding will help improve and maintain the corridor’s numerous parks, beaches and attractions, protecting one of eastern Ontario’s premier tourism destinations and ensuring they are ready to welcome visitors of all ages for years to come.

Part of the project includes the corridor’s first septic upgrades in 60 years with the construction of drinking water and wastewater connections to the neighbouring townships of South Stormont and South Dundas and the decommissioning of associated septic systems and wells.
