Pedestrian killed in collision on Highway 401 near Mallorytown

A collision on Highway 401 near Mallorytown has left a pedestrian dead.

Leeds County OPP say they were called to the highway, between Mallorytown and Lansdowne, around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday after the occupant of a vehicle had gotten out of it and been struck and killed by another vehicle traveling westbound.

The OPPs Forensic Identification Services are assisting with the investigation into the collision in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

Police say the deceased has been identified and they say their identity will not be released to safeguard the privacy of the grieving family.

A postmortem examination has been ordered and will be conducted in the near future.
