It’s the kind of heat that hits you like a tidal wave the moment you step outside.
A Heat Warning remains in effect for our region from Environment Canada and Senior Climatologist Dave Phillips says it’s been close to six years since we have seen weather like this in our area.
The high temperatures, brought on by a dome that works like a large stadium over top of the area, are expected to last through Wednesday with no relief at night either.
Phillips tells Moose FM that it’s vital to follow the advice of health officials.
“We call it dangerous because of the intensity of the heat and also the fact that it’s the first one. You always find the first one to be the riskiest because people have to learn how to handle the heat.”
Phillips says cooler temperatures will move in on Thursday before another heat wave arrives early next week.
