Two programs for local entrepreneurs officially launched

Thirteen new entrepreneurs in our region are set to hit the ground running.

The launch for both Summer Company, marking its 25th year, and Starter Company Plus was held by Leeds Grenville Economic Development in Prescott on Tuesday night with local politicians, families and friends of the four youth and nine adult entrepreneurs on hand for the occasion.

Summer Company provides local youth with the opportunity to start and run their own businesses this summer while Starter Company Plus supports adult entrepreneurs from across the area as they build and grow their businesses.

Small Business Development Officer Carol Hardy tells Moose FM that the programs are invaluable.

“We always have people that don’t really have a clue really what they are doing in the beginning or they’re just looking to grow their business and they come out of the programs with just so many skills and so many more connections and really apply them to their business.”

Successful Summer Company applicants receive a $3,000 grant, business training, and ongoing mentorship while Starter Company Plus participants pitch their ideas to a panel of local
business leaders and mentors for a chance to receive a grant of up to $5,000.

You can see a full list of this year’s participants on the Leeds Grenville Economic Development website.
