Local film-makers recognized in MyView Youth Film Festival

Six local film-makers are being recognized for their talents.

Last Thursday night they were part of the awards ceremony for the the 10th anniversary of the MyView Youth Film Festival.

The festival started in 2013 as a collaborative initiative between the Kemptville Youth Centre, the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit and Triune Films, and aims to provide young filmmakers in the North Grenville area with a platform to express themselves to, and about, the local community.

The grand Prize $1,000 winner for overall best film went to “Just Be You” by Ian and Isaac Dennis from Kemptville.

Other winners included:

Winners of the YMCA prize (sponsored by the YMCA of Eastern Ontario): Dear Future Me by the Multi-Exceptional Program Students at St. Michael’s Catholic High School in Kemptville.

Winner of the 10-13 age category: Finding Confidence by Mara Knudsen from Athens.

Winner of the 14-17 age category: Brunham and Sebo: Theoretical Services by Harrison Campbell & Miles Dockendorff from Kemptville.

Best of the Fest 10th Anniversary winner: You’re Not Alone by Emma Yakimovich from Kemptville.
