Hold off on going to the gas pumps to fill up if you can.
That’s the advice from Canadians for Affordable Energy President Dan McTeague who tells Moose FM that prices are expected to drop around two cents on Saturday followed by another smaller drop on Sunday.
If you’re planning on hitting the road for the Victoria Day long weekend, McTeague says the best time to fill up is after 6 p.m. when stations will drop their prices even further.
He says a little bit of planning goes a long way.
“If you can, avoid a gas station on Friday. Get what you need to get to go where you need to go but when you get there that’s when you should be filling up, especially for the return home.”
Taking a look back at the May long weekend last year, gasoline prices are, on average, now about 25 cents per litre lower.
