A fire that destroyed a garage at a Spencerville home is not believed to be suspicious.
Edwardsburgh Cardinal Fire Chief Brian Moore tells Moose FM that the department was called to the blaze at the two-story garage at a home on Rooney Road, by Highway 416, just before 6 p.m. Sunday.
When firefighters arrived, Moore says their were flames coming from the second floor and up through the roof.
He says crews acted quickly.
“We had to utilize a transitional attack, that’s where we hit it with water from the outside until conditions improve enough that we can actually put people inside the structure.”
Moore adds that the homeowner was able to remove vehicles and other items from the garage before they were damaged.
He says the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
