Kemptville McDonalds raising funds for Ronald McDonald House on McHappy Day

Ensuring parents of a critically ill child receiving care at the Children`s Hospital of Eastern Ontario have a home away from home.

That`s the goal behind this year`s McHappy Day event at McDonalds restaurants in our region with a portion of all food and beverage sales on Thursday going to support the Ronald McDonald House in Ottawa.

Owner Tim Carter says the house only costs families ten dollars a night, with the rest of the money for the stay coming from fundraising.

He tells Moose FM that the house is currently undergoing a major renovation.

“It`s going from 18 bedrooms to 38 bedrooms so more than double at a cost of $23 million dollars, it`s going to be finished in October.”

Carter adds that they have $600,000 left to raise to pay for the renovations which will enable more families to receive care when they need it the most.
