North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford calls it a big milestone for the County Road 43 expansion project.
The concrete deck for the first two new lanes of the bridge across Kemptville Creek were poured this week with the goal of having the two lanes finished and open later this summer.
Peckford says that will allow for the old bridge to be demolished and the remaining two new lanes to be built and completed in 2026.
According to Peckford, the bridge was near the end of its useful life and not equipped to accommodate North Grenville’s current or future traffic.
She adds the new bridge will be be far safer, better lit and have multi-use pathways on both sides.
