It’s what Ottawa Senators fans in the area have been waiting a long time for.
For the first time since 2017, the Ottawa Senators have clinched a spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs and will have an opportunity to chase hockey’s ultimate prize.
While it wasn’t a victory that punched Ottawa’s ticket to the post season, the Montreal Canadiens win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night sealed the deal.
It’s expected that the playoffs will begin on Easter Sunday, Apr. 20, and while Ottawa’s first round opponent has yet to be determined, it is known that the Senators will start the series on the road.
Ottawa Senators President Cyril Leeder told a media conference on Wednesday morning that the preparation work starts now.
“Red zone plaza, we are going to activate that, we have to hire bands, hopefully the weather will cooperate and we’ll have some outdoor patios for restaurants, all the planning in the arena.”
Ottawa Senators Play-By-Play Announcer Dean Brown tells Moose FM that he’s thrilled for all involved.
“I live in Ottawa, I’m happy for the fans here. The players deserve this, they won this. I’m happy for the organizations, it’s been a long road to get back to the playoffs.”
Single-game playoff tickets are expected to go on sale as early as next Tuesday.
