Gas prices to drop further this weekend

You might want to hold off if you can to head to the gas station.

After dropping around 20 cents a litre earlier in the week when the federal carbon tax was lifted, gas prices are expected to drop as much as 13 cents a litre come Sunday.

Canadians for Affordable Energy president Dan McTeague tells Moose FM the second significant drop this week comes after energy markets responded dramatically to the tariff announcement made by U.S. President Donald Trump.

He says that, coupled with poor economic news in Canada including an increase in the jobless figure, has led to gas prices dropping.

McTeague says we could see more of an impact at the gas station depending on how the markets look on Monday.

“If it continues on Monday then by Wednesday we could see even more decreases at the pumps and not just for gasoline but the equivalent fall for diesel.”

We will see an increase later this month for gas when stations switch over to their summer blend.
