U18AAA Central Regional Championship officially kicks off in Kemptville

The action is underway at the U18AAA Central Regional Championship in Kemptville.

Monday, the first day of the tournament being held at the North Grenville Municipal Centre, saw three games played as well as the opening ceremony with dignitaries including Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark delivering remarks.

Also on hand for the ceremony was Chris Neil who played 1,026 games in the National Hockey League, all with the Ottawa Senators.

Neil tells Moose FM that playing in a tournament like this takes everything you have.

“It’s what you play for all year, all these teams that qualify to be here and you have to leave it all out on the ice, you have to sacrifice and block shots, it’s what you have to do every single shift.”

The tournament continues through Sunday.

97.5 Moose FM will have extensive coverage of the U18AAA Central Regional Championship.
