The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority is urging residents to prepare for this weekends significant storm.
They say the combination of the storm and already elevated water levels due to the early spring thaw is increasing the risk of localized flooding in low-lying areas.
They have a flood watch in place for the lakes in the Upper Watershed, Bobs Lake and Christie Lake in particular, and the Rideau River from Smiths Falls to Manotick.
The statement is in effect until Apr. 4, at 11:59 p.m. or until an update has been issued.
Property owners in flood-prone areas should take necessary precautions including ensuring sump pumps are clear, in good working condition, and have a backwater valve.
They should also keep a portable backup generator and pump easily accessible.
