North Grenville holding public meeting on additional residential units

An upcoming open house will be based around all you need to know about having an additional residential unit on your property.

It’s planned for Tuesday, Apr. 1 at the North Grenville Public Library.

Officials say an additional residential unit is described as a small, self-contained residential unit located on the same property as a main home.

The unit’s, often called “granny” suites, have their own entrance, kitchen, bathroom, and living space.

Last March, North Grenville received funding from Ottawa to build more accessible and affordable housing for current and future residents and ARU’s are one of the seven initiatives being undertaken by the municipality to build more homes faster.

Officials say the ARU Initiative offers a one-time federal grant of $10,000 and three shovel-ready ARU architectural designs, a one-bedroom, a two-bedroom, and a barrier-free one-bedroom.

The meeting is planned to run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and you can click here to learn more.
